    Default .243 + silencer

Hey guys, I need some advise. I own a Musgrave .243 and had a silencer fitted to the barrel. The previous weekend we went hunting and a number of the guys in the group use .243 rifles and they all told me that you can not put a silencer on a .243. According to them you will never be able to get a.243 accurate with a silencer. I am not a brilliant shot but managed with the silencer. What is you're take on this statement?

Absolute BS, if you use a proper silencer fitted correctly your groups will only get smaller!

They are just jealous. I have/had silencers on a 308W and 223Rem and have not seen any decrease in accuracy!

Ask them to tell you why they say so and if they back their statements. Most common problem is silencers that is not fitted correctly.

It will depend on where you live, there are lots of gunsmiths that can do the job.

It is all about cutting the barrel thread concentric to the bore ...

Sorry, I live down in CPT.

Arms should be able to sort you out. For a silencer you don't have to look further than the local Terminator brand (Clarence Swanepoel of Bloemfontein)

This is mine fitted to my 223Rem ans some 100m groups I have shot using this combo

I have a Terminator fitted to my Musgrave .243. Works very well, but just very heavy! Accuracy and noise reduction is good, but in future will rather get a lighter design if I intend walking around hunting with the rifle.

Guys, then you need a reflex silencer that shrouds trhe barrel thereby making the silencer shorter with a large expansion chamber and also moving the weight as far back as possible.

Speak to Nico J V Rensburg.

Just got back from playing with HellKitty's R6 with silencer at Durban Deep. It's wierd hearing the sonic boom, but no bang.

What ammo do you use Kaspaas? Do you use 80gr or 100gr? I use standard 100gr PMP ammo.

I had one fitted to my 243 Win Remington Varminter. Works like a charm. This is my varminting/culling rifle. Excellent consistent accuracy.

Here is the same one on my (ex) 7mmSTW:
